If you are like me, new to Public Art, this mp3 from ABC Arts may interest you.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer is one of the world's most prominent electronic artists. He's famous for large-scale interactive art works that reclaim public space with displays of light. He's in Melbourne with a new work called Solar Equation. It is a small-scale version of the sun, excactly 100 million times smaller than the real thing. During the day it looks like a tethered weather balloon -- but at night it lights up with swirling interactive animations that are generated by mathematical equations simulating the sun's actual turbulence, flares and sunspots.
