Light artist Raphael Lozano-Hemmer in Melbourne- from Canada Night Sun Project called "Solar Equation"
If you are like me, new to Public Art, this mp3 from ABC Arts may interest you.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer is one of the world's most prominent electronic artists. He's famous for large-scale interactive art works that reclaim public space with displays of light. He's in Melbourne with a new work called Solar Equation. It is a small-scale version of the sun, excactly 100 million times smaller than the real thing. During the day it looks like a tethered weather balloon -- but at night it lights up with swirling interactive animations that are generated by mathematical equations simulating the sun's actual turbulence, flares and sunspots.

woodblock prints from NationalGalleryNSW

As we are doing print making next semester I thought these images would / could be inspiring. They are simple in method-you carve out the high lights from a wooden block leaving the shadows to print.
The block is inked with a roller, then the paper is pressed against the block either with a hand tool or more commonly by a press similar to the one we have at school. There can be a different block for each colour or the one block can be inked with several colours -fun and looks good when the design is simple and bold Most of the shown images are by Margaret Preston

Hi colleagues, well it's been 'full on' the last couple of days hey?! The class had a very different feel. What we could do if we kept that pace !
It was great getting some more images printed.on good paper. The paper makes a huge difference to the way colour and tone are reproduced- so its clear that we should be thinking of the paper for output at the ideas stage, when planning our work.
I've downloaded Blender for PC but it requires Python 2.6 which at present seems not to download- does anyone know about this???
